(Trans Empowerment Alliance), Lunch Punks, Denver Communists, and Mutual Aid Monday (M.A.M) as we celebrate International Womxn’s Day! We are holding a rally & bake/food sale to uplift and celebrate houseless womxn! Houseless womxn, of all kinds, are the most vulnerable womxn out there, and their voices need and deserve to be heard! This is a rally to uplift these womxn, and to show their incredible strength and resilience through some of the most harsh conditions out there. We will be having speeches from houseless mother’s, Transgender womxn, and other houseless womxn. We are also having a bake/food sale with all food made by houseless womxn, and proceeds going directly to them. In 2025 Denver has seen large increases in houselessness, especially houseless families with children, and transgender people..
With increasing rents, and dwindling social welfare programs, we are seeing an increase in family homelessness. Families of all kinds are sleeping in tents, cars, shelters, and even under bridges with their children. The mothers of these families are some of the strongest womxn you will ever meet. Denver has very little actual shelter for families, and we are saying “No more children on the streets!”
Along with families we are seeing a large increase in houseless transgender womxn. Many are coming here from other states escaping persecution (one just has to look right across the border in Kansas) with nothing more than a back pack, and an understanding that Denver is “Sanctuary City” for transgender people. Sadly this only applies if you are able to afford to live here. Denver has zero shelters or resource centers for houseless queer people. This leaves transgender people with zero safe places to stay at night. The increase of transgender refugees coming to Denver has been going on for a few years now, but since the re-election of Donald Trump, and many right wing leaning states implementing archaic anti-trans laws, the number is increasing at a high rate.
Join us Sunday March 8th at 3:30PM in Lincoln/Veterans Park (1449 Lincoln St, Denver, CO 80203) to celebrate the many womxn out on the streets of Denver, they are some of the most resilient, strong, wonderful womxn out there, and they deserve to be uplifted, and celebrated.
