Rehema, her partner and their 7 kids are living in a mini-van where they have to play human tetris to fit everyone in – and the van is on its last leg. When the van breaks down, they will be stranded with nowhere to go…
Rehema and her family have been seeking housing or even just emergency shelter here in Denver for over a year. They are on every housing wait list – doing all the right things to try and get housing, but no housing is coming. They stayed for a month at the Tamarac Family shelter, but TSA staff there kicked them out lying about threats – clearly because of races and discrimination against this large family. There is no family shelter in Denver where they, or any family, can walk up to and get in for emergency shelter. 0.
So this family of 9 lives in a mini-van. When asked about access to bathrooms Rehema explained, ‘We do have a small potty in the van but it is not always accessible cause the kids have to move things around to access it’ highlighting this families need for a larger space! And with their van about to break down, she went on to share, ‘I’ve been more in the dumps about it all. I’m always wondering when something like a miracle will happen.’
Rehema and partner and her 7 wonderful children need a 12-15 passenger van to live in. Most vans this size cost around $5,000. We are asking the community to donate so they can get a van!
