Housing Barriers for Transgender and Non-Binary Individuals Experiencing Homelessness and Violence in Denver

This research project focuses on the housing barriers faced by transgender and non-binary (T/NB) individuals experiencing houselessness in Denver, Colorado. This study uses a qualitative research methodology, conducting in-depth interviews with nine individuals to learn more about their experiences with houselessness and their journey to obtain stable housing. This study provides critical insights into the experiences of T/NB individuals experiencing houselessness in Denver, Colorado, and contributes to the development of more effective and equitable housing policies and programs. The purpose of this study is to expand upon Housekeys Action Network Denver’s (HAND) advocacy efforts and their 2022 survey. HAND conducted a Housing Street Outreach Survey in 2022 on the experiences of unhoused people in Denver, Colorado. The qualitative data in this study will serve as supportive evidence for the HAND survey findings while also serving as a comparison to the experiences of the general unhoused population in Denver.
